A CONVERSATION FOR PROGRESS: HOUSING MOBILITY IN MASSACHUSETTS

Research has shown that providing low-income families with personalized services, like landlord engagement or financing for a security deposit, improves their success when using housing vouchers in higher-cost areas. Breaking down housing barriers is one of the best public investments we can make, economic research has shown. In addition to the greater opportunities afforded to low-income children, housing mobility programs might be one tool to encourage more diverse and vibrant neighborhoods and schools here in the Commonwealth.

Join Policy for Progress for a discussion on May 24th at 10:00 AM about an exciting new program: Supporting Neighborhood Opportunity in Massachusetts (SNO Mass). SNO Mass was just expanded state-wide in the late Fall of 2020. You will hear directly from a SNO Mass participating family about their experience, as well as from a program administrator at the Department of Housing and Community Development. Experts in housing mobility will also be on the panel to discuss the research and policy design that undergirds SNO Mass.
